There has been some discussion on Twitter on what the jerseys should be for each team. Here are my suggestions:
Team 2011 - Powder Blue 1985 St. Louis Cardinals jerseys.
The Cards were managed by Whitey Herzog, a man obsessed with making things happen now. The most agressive team I've ever seen in my lifetime - they ran themselves out of more innings than I can remember. Important parallels: Like the '85 Cardinals, Team 2011 is heavily favoured to win. Like the '85 Cardinals, they will not.
Team 2012 - 1975-1976 Quebec Nordiques (WHA)
How do we delay an election? One way is through an arena in Quebec. And just like the 1975-1976 season, Quebec doesn't even have an NHL team. Wonder if Harper can find a way to resurrect the WHA?
Team 2013 - 1977-78 Toronto Maple Leafs
Really any Leaf jersey will work here, but I'm a sucker for the Sittler/McDonald era. Team 2013 is just like any Leaf team from the last 40 years - always 2 years away.
Team 2118 - Leeloo's outfit from The Fifth Element
I have seen the future and it is good. At least for the 0.0001% of the population that, like me, can pull off such an outfit. The rest of you are going to look pretty foolish.
